QUEEN OF CLUBS

When I was a child our family had a special card deck with the most beautiful, ornamental face cards. I used to sit at our kitchen table and glance through the cards one by one, forgetting everything else around me. All the Queens looked mesmerizing but the most enchanting of them all was the Queen of Clubs. Countless hours I spent admiring her, wondering what secrets her serene expression hid.
